Achilles Tendon in 01608

01608 Foot Care

Your achilles tendon is what connects your calf muscle to your heel bone and what you feel in the back of your foot when you're pushing off your foot to walk or run. It's not something you think much about, unless it is causing you pain or difficulties. When that happens, you should not hesitate to contact us at Premier Foot & Ankle Center, LLC. We're specialists in foot concerns and will diagnose and treat the issue as effectively as possible. Achilles tendonitis is a problem in which the tendon becomes inflamed. However, it is when small tearing occurs in or around the tendon that you are likely to experience pain. This is known as tendinosis, though it is typical to use the general term achilles tendonitis to refer to the entire problem. Men are more likely to suffer from it than women, and the most common age group affected is 30 to 50 year-olds, especially those who like to participate in sports recreationally. Repetitive movement is a major cause, though this can also be the result of your job or any activity that fits that description. If you notice swelling in your ankle or pain in that general area above the back of your foot, especially when you walk or run, you should seek out our 01608 foot care. A more serious situation is a tear or rupture of the tendon. It is the rupture that is most associated with acute pain. Often, it is the result of a sudden jarring motion that causes stress to the calf area. You may also hear a pop. Swelling and bruising are possible, also. Our 01608 foot care has the solutions, however.

Treatment options for achilles tendon problems range form rest to stretching exercises to physical therapy. Torn or ruptured tendons may require surgery, but our 01608 foot care will evaluate the circumstances and advise you accordingly. Book an appointment if you have reason to believe you have an achilles tendon concern.
